Grady Lycurgus Bassham was the son of Rufus Lycurgus Bassham and Martha "Mattie" Louella Harrison.
His first wife was Matilda Ann Newton whom he married in 1921. Matilda was the daughter of Benjamin Franklin Newton and Mary Misani Newton. Grady and Matilda were the parents of five children.
Grady and his second wife, Pearl Adeline Williams, were married in 1948. She was the daughter of Joseph Edmond Williams and Amy Malenda Mabe. Pearl and Grady had no children.
In addition to owning a farm near Loretto, TN, Grady served as a substitute mail carrier, as a Lawrence County Road Commissioner and had a Watkins Product route for about fifteen years. He was also instrumental in getting underwater bridges built in Blue Water, Shannon, Buffalo and Sugar Creeks, even helping with the construction.
Grady is buried in the Restview Cemetery in Loretto, along with both his wives. MAH 2009
