John, 85, died at 4:30 p.m., at Springview Manor Nursing Home.
He was the son of Henry F. and Lucina (Rammel) Art. On Sep 5, 1959, he married Irene Mary Homan, who survives.
Also surviving are four sons: Aaron (Lina), Brian (Cathy), Charles (Laura), and Christopher (Kelli); a daughter, Valery (Jeff) Conrad; a daughter-in-law, Laurie Art; four brothers: Robert, Leroy, Ralph (Carol) and Jim (Nancy); four sisters: Catherine Birley, Ruth Grieshop, Clara Forsthoefel, and Jeanne (Dennis) Gebele; and fourteen grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Deceased are two sons: Thomas Art and Don Nolan; a sister, Mary Hundley; four brothers-in-law: Gene Birley, Dale Hundley, Bob Grieshop and Jim Forsthoefel; and two sisters-in-law: Mary Jo Art and Pat Kamphues.
He graduated from Immaculate Conception High School, Celina, and he attended Lima Technical College. He worked at Ford Motor Company from 1957-1994 where he was a tool design engineer at the Lima Engine Plant. Prior to coming to Lima, he worked at Hughes Aircraft and New Idea. He was a member of St Charles Catholic Church and Knights of Columbus Loyalty Council 2661, Lima.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be at St. Charles Catholic Church.
A private family interment of the cremains will be set for a later date.
