Ogden was born abt 1833 in CT to Desmond Ogden Benjamin and Elizabeth Fisher. He is their second born. Ogden's older brother Ferdinand was my GGG Grandfather. He had 4 younger brothers, Theodore, Thomas, James and Charlie and two sisters Alice and Alexina, Ogden traveled with his family to Preble County Ohio sometime after 1837 but before the 1840 census. They lived in Preble County until sometime after 1853 but before the 1860 census. His family then moved to Henry County IN and lived in the town of Ogden. On the 1860 census Ogden was not living with his parents so he may have married before that date. By 1861 Ogden's parents were living in Indianapolis IN. Then they traveled to Douglas County KS with their son's James, Thomas and daughter Alexnia in 1868 and lived there till they died.

Ogden married Cynthia Maze of KY. they have a daughter Sarah Elizabeth that went by Lizzie and married a Reuben Adams. Lizzie and Reuben had a daughter Harriet and a son named Charles Desmond. There was also a boy, Clarence Benjamin living with Ogden's widow on the 1870 census, listed as her son but his date of birth is after Ogden's death so not sure if he is actually Ogden's son. I have not been able to find a record of Ogden in the Civil War. He is talked about in letters the family wrote that I have copies of that were written during the Civil War. His date of death makes me think he may have been killed during the civil war. I also think he may have went by the name Johnny and that his full name may be John Ogden or Jonathan Ogden. The letters I have talk about a Johnny.
