Funeral services were held Wednesday, Aug. 13 in Sabylund Lutheran church for Elmer Haglund, 76, of Maiden Rock. The Rev. Tenner Thompson officiated and burial was in New Sabylund cemetery at Lund.
Mr. Haglund died Monday, Aug. 11 in a hospital at Red Wing, Minn. After a long Illness. Born Sept. 22, 1892, in the town of Stockholm, he was the son of John and Anna Halverson Haglund. He attended Bogus Creek school and was baptized and confirmed at Stockholm Evangelical Mission church.
The former Anna Eggenberger and Mr. Haglund were married Feb. 12, 1921 in Wabasha, Minn. They farmed at Lake City 10 years before returning to the towns of Maiden Rock and Salem.
Surviving are six sons and five daughters; William of Stockholm, Eugene and Donald of Anchorage, Alaska, Charles of St. Paul, Dennis of Maiden Rock, Dean of Ellsworth, Mrs. Harvey ( Dorothy) Brittle of Chatham, N.J., Mrs. Michael ( Marvel ) Zullo of Wilmette, Ill., Mrs. Everend ( Marcella ) Thorne of Red Wing, Mrs. Ronald ( Brenda ) Anderson of Stewartville, Minn. and Cheryl Haglund of Maiden Rock.
There also are 30 grandchildren, one great-granddaughter, two brothers, Alvin of Lake City and Harry of Maiden Rock, and three sisters, Mrs. Merton White of Maiden Rock, Mrs. Delia Freheit of Lake City and Mrs. Alfred Olson of Plum City. Preceding Mr. Haglund in death were his wife, one son and four brothers.
