Robert Lee was born in Talbot Ridge Community near Rockdale to the late Albert Lee and Fannie Myrtle (Martin) Caywood. He attended school at Talbot Ridge and graduated from Rockdale High School in 1938. On July 19, 1941 he married Wanda Lucille Rutherford in Rockdale. He served in the U.S. Navy from June of 1943 and was honorably discharged as a Seaman First Class in November of 1945. Hubert was a rancher and had worked for Alcoa as a head tapper for many years and then worked in the yard service. He retired in 1983. Hubert was a lifelong resident of Milam County and the Rockdale area, living the past 38 years in Minerva. He was a long time member of Murray Street Church of Christ in Rockdale. Hubert enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, reading western books, and picking pecans and berries.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Wanda, on August 23, 2011; son, Brent Caywood, on January 22, 2001; brother, Herbert “Spud” Caywood; and sisters: Bertha Williams, Ella Caywood and Ivy Laurence.
Survivors include his son, Ronnie Caywood and wife, Millie, of Rockdale; daughters, Lisa Montague and husband, Phillip, of Ward, Arkansas, and Becky Woolf, of Rockdale; grandchildren: Farrah Austin and husband, Craig, Robert Montague and wife, Kristin, Lacie Richter and husband, Laban, Hunter Mueller, Charlsie Mueller, Kinley Mueller, Kim Filla and husband, Joey, Pam Ross, Mary Gomez, Rosie Oliver and husband, Eddy, Alfonso Gomez and Jimmie Gomez; great-grandchildren: Whitney and Ethan Austin, Madison and Brodie Filla, Braeden and Brycen Richter, E.T. and Nikki Oliver, and Adrianna Montague; daughter-in-law, Teresa Caywood; sister, Lillie Doss, of Austin; other relatives and many friends.
