Megargel Man Killed in Fall From Tower Thursday
A Megargel Man, Victor Bohac, 46, died as the result of a fall from an emergency warning tower in Megargel. The accident occured about noon last Thursday.
According to Tom Mobley highway patrolman in Olney and an eyewitness to the accident. Bohac fell only about 12 feet as he was climbing down from the tower. He landed on his left side and the man was never able to regain his breath. Mobley and Bobby Goldsmith applied artificial respiration but were unable to revive the man.
Mobley said Bohac had climbed the tower to cut down some ropes which were hanging from the tower. The man was able to get the top rope loose and had climbed about halfway down the tower to remove a second rope.
Mobley said he was the man come down the tower and then all of a sudden fall. Mobley yelled to Goldsmith who was the first man on the scene.
Bohac was pronounced dead on arrival at Hamilton Hospital in Olney. He was brought to the hospital in a Lunn ambulance.
Bohac was a lifetime resident of Megargel. He was born November 22, 1920 in Megargel and was a member of St. Mary's Church of the Assumption and the KJT Lodge.
Rosary was held at 7:30 p.m. Friday in Lunn Funeral Chapel and services were held at 10 a.m. Saturday from St. Mary's Church of the Assumption in Megargel. The Rev. Thomas Griffin, pastor officiated. Burial was in the Megargel Cemetery.
Survivors include four brothers, Otmar of Wichita Falls, Elbert of Ramona, Calif. and Jo Pat and Frank both of Fort Worth and three sisters, Mrs. Milton Kirby of Brownville, Mrs. Robert Marak of Seymour and Mrs. Robert Essler of Arlington.
