Iona Lois Adkins, 52, died Tuesday, February 6 in Silver City. Mrs. Adkins was born in Santa Rita and was a life long resident of Grant County. She was a member of the Arenas Valley Community Church. She is survived by her husband, Earl Adkins of Silver City, daughter, Earleen Garlow of Silver City, son Allen F. Adkins of Albuquerque, two sisters, Nona Van Cleave of Hurley and Kay Chavez of Deming. Funeral services were at 2 p.m., February 9in the Curtis-Bright Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Eugene Bjork officiating. Burial followed in Memory Lane Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers were Mike Short, Alan Wiseman, Jack Hensley, Charles Crutcher, Claude Mitchell and Rex Dempsey. The family asks that donations in her name be made to the American Cancer Society.
