FLEISCHMANNS, NY — Madelaine L. Deyns, 73, of Fleischmanns died Jan. 3, 1998 at Mountainside Residential Care Center in Margaretville.

She was born June 2, 1924 in Jersey City, N.J., the daughter of Leon Bruchez and Margarita Lemp.

She married John L. Deyns February 1944; he died on April 29, 1974.

Mrs. Deyns was a secretary in the engineering department of Grumman Aerospace at Bethpage, retiring in August 1986 after working for 29 years. She moved to Fleischmanns in October 1986, a prior resident of Bethpage and Farmingdale.

She was a member of the Cerebral Palsy Auxiliary in Farmingdale and for many years enjoyed playing Pinochle.

Survivors include her significant other, William J. Cross of Fleischmanns; one son, Raymond J. Deyns of Fairport; two grandchildren, Jamie and Andrea; a brother, Henry Bruchez; and the children of William Cross, Brian and Donna Cross.

Funeral services will be 8 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 6, 1998 at Hynes Funeral Home in Margaretville with the Rev. Dr. George Carpenter officiating.

Burial will be in Pinelawn Cemetery, Pinelawn.

Calling hours will be Tuesday from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. at Hynes Funeral Home. There will also be calling hours at the Schmitt Funeral Home at Seaford on Thursday, followed by a funeral service Friday morning.

Arrangements are by Hynes Funeral Home, Margaretville.
