Funeral services for Rev. Rawleigh Raymond Adcock, 58, were held Wednesday at 2:30 p.m. in the First Baptist Church, Spur. Rev. C.L. Atkinson, Dickens, and Rev. Sam Simmons, Spur, officiated.
Rev. Adcock was dead on arrival at Crosbyton Hospital Monday. He apparently suffered a heart attack. Born in Atlanta, Texas on June 17, 1924, he had resided in Dickens County most of his life. At the time of his death he was a Baptist minister and a service station attendant. He was a member of the Baptist church and a veteran of World War II.
He married the former Mary Lavelle Pearson in Spur on September 22, 1945.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Adcock, Dickens; five sons, Michael Ray Adcock, Spur; Richard Lee Adcock, Afton; Jerry Lynn Adcock, Dickens; Terry Lynn Adcock, Spur and Kevin Edward Adcock, of the home; five daughters, Marilyn Kay Taylor, Littlefield; Sandra Louise Hollington, Perth, Australia; Donna Adcock, Jacksonville; Cynthia Lavelle Morris, Dickens, Laurie Elaine Adcock, Jacksonville, three brothers, Rev. Pete Adcock, Midland; Bunky Adcock, Corpus Christi; Mike Adcock, Grand Prairie; three sisters, Nina Eller, Lubbock; Ruby McKay, Spur and Ann Porter, Dickens; 16 grandchildren.
Pallbearers included Dumont Bridge, Sam Porter, Larry Little, Cecil Carrol, Bill Stone and Bill Dove. Honorary pallbearers were Foy Jackson and Tom Hale, Sr.
Burial was in Spur Cemetery with Campbell Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
