Louis E. Abbott Jr., 93, of Springfield died Monday Oct. 13, 2003, at Memorial Medical Center. He was born Jan. 27, 1910, in Springfield, the son of Louis E. Sr. and Margaret Mackle Abbott. He married Florence V. MacDonald in 1931; she died in 1986. Mr. Abbott and his wife owned and operated Abbott Lumber Co., retiring in 1968. He was a member of Southern View Chapel and several boards of Christian organizations. Survivors: a daughter, Sharon A. Whitcomb of Elmhurst; a son, David E. Abbott of Springfield; three grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; two nieces; and a nephew. Services: 11 a.m. Friday, Southern View Chapel, the Rev. Gary Gilley officiating. Burial: Roselawn Cemetery. McCullough-Delaney Funeral Home in New Berlin is in charge of arrangements.
