Obituary in THE STATE, Columbia, SC, 31 Aug 2010: Lexington - Leland O. Amick, 93, better known to his family and friends as 'Teadley' went home to be with his Lord on Monday, August 30, 2010. 'Teadley' was the last surviving member of his immediate family, son of C. O. 'Bub' Amick, Sr. and Eudocia Shealy Amick, a well respected and well known family of Lexington County. He was the owner and operator of the family business, C. O. Amick Lumber Co., a graduate of Lexington High School, and considered an outstanding football player. He continued to enjoy sports and was an avid Clemson fan. 'Teadley' was a member of St. Stephen's Lutheran Church. Always interested in the growth and the activities of his community, the Amick family along with the Davis family donated the original material for the American Legion Post 7 home. A veteran of World War II, 'Teadley' was a member of Post 7 for 62 years. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Louise Mathias Amick of Lexington; stepson, R.W. McCormick (Tonya) of Lexington; step grandchildren, Kelli Allen (Albert) of Richmond, VA, Michael R. McCormick (Darlene) of Lexington, Jason K. Waters (Leslie) of Lexington, Leslee Fortanbary (John) of Irmo and step great-grandchildren, Brooks, Kendall, Whitney, Sidney, Elizabeth, Katelyn and Sarah and numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brothers and sisters, Neula Boatwright, Herman L. Amick, Lewie E. Amick, Voight S. Amick, C. O. Amick, Jr., and Claudia Harmon. Left to cherish his memory are nieces and nephews and additional family members. The family will be at the McCormick's home at 264 Gibson Road, Lexington. Funeral services for 'Teadley' will be held at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, September 1, 2010 at St. Stephen's Lutheran Church with interment to follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, August 31, 2010 at Caughman-Harman Funeral Home, Lexington Chapel. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Stephen's Lutheran Church, Building Fund, 119 N. Church Street, Lexington, SC 29072. The family would also like to extend our heartfelt love and appreciation to the staff at Oak Leaf and Oak Haven of Lexington for their care of 'Teadley' during the last two and a half years.
