Burlington County Times - Tabernacle, NJ resident
David J. Brown of Tabernacle, NJ passed away suddenly on September 22, 2007. He was 67.
David was born April 12, 1940 in Port Republic, NJ, to the late John and Evelyn M. Brown. He developed a strong work ethic at a young age while working along side his father at John Brown's Saw Mill. David joined the U.S. Army in 1958, where he received his training as a Heavy Equipment Operator while stationed at Fort Leonard Wood, MO. He was later transferred to Alaska where he remained until he was discharged in 1962. He returned to active duty during the
Cuban Missile Crisis.
When David returned home he followed his passion and joined the Operating Engineers, Local 825, where he worked forty-four years as a Crane and Heavy Equipment Operator. "Brownie" was well respected by his peers and trained many young men in his field. He loved animals of all kinds and especially his horses. He enjoyed spending time at his vacation home in Farmville, VA. He retired to his farm in Tabernacle, NJ, where he maintained a chair at his wife Debra's feed store, (Allen's Feed). David could be found on any given day debating customers and spinning tales of yesteryear.
He was a caring and generous man, whose wit and humor will be sadly missed by all who knew him, including his beloved wife, Debra (nee Allen) Brown and the rest of his family and friends.
Relatives and friends are invited to his viewing on Wednesday from 7:00 to 9:00 PM and on Thursday from 9:00 to 10:00 AM at the BRADLEY & STOW FUNERAL HOME, 127 Medford-Mount Holly Rd., Medford, NJ, 609-953-7600, where a Funeral Service will be held on Thursday at 10:00 AM.
