Desire "Jack" Bouvet, 74, of Taylorville died at 7:35 a.m. Friday, September 16, 2005, in his home.

He was born February 13, 1931, in Tovey, the son of Desire and Minnie McComb Bouvet. He married Darlene Gobel on November 22, 1952, in St. Mary's Catholic Church, Taylorville.

He had been a coal miner with Peabody and Freeman for 39 years, retiring on April 30, 1992. He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church. He was a lifetime member of the VFW, former member of the American Legion, a member of U.M.W.A. Local #9819, and very active in A.A. for 18 1/2 years. He attended Tovey Grade School and graduated two years ago from South Fork High School, Kincaid, when they recognized former students who left school to serve in the war. He served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War, stationed for five years on the USS Worchester.

Surviving are his wife; sons: David Bouvet of Taylorville and Tim (wife Jill) Bouvet of Mahomet; daughter-in-law, Amy Bouvet of Belleville; grandsons: Jonathan Bouvet and Darren Bouvet, both of Mahomet; step-granddaughter, Lauren Dutkanych of Belleville; brothers: Gene (wife Phyllis) Bouvet of Tovey and Carmen (wife Sheryl) Bouvet of Taylorville; and sister, Marilyn (husband Don) Blakey of Las Vegas, NV.

He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Terry Bouvet; one brother; and four sisters.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, September 20, in McClure Funeral Home, with Father Alan Hunter officiating.
Burial will be in Glen Haven Memorial Gardens.
Visitation will be held from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Monday, September 19, in the funeral home.
