Janice E. Beck, 68, of Youngtown, AZ, formerly of Kincaid, died Wednesday, February 1, 2006, in her home.
She was born October 12, 1937, near Dollville, the daughter of Glen and Elva Brookens Sherwood. She was raised by her grandparents, O.D. and Ruth Brookens. She married William Crowder in 1958 in Kincaid, and they later divorced. She married Paul C. Beck on February 16, 1976, in Taylorville. She and her husband owned and operated Talisman Styling Salons in Taylorville. She was elected to the common council of Youngtown in 2001, serving as vice-mayor.
Surviving are her husband; daughters: Julie (husband John) Calcaterra of Youngtown, AZ, Barbara (husband Todd) Craig and Kathleen (husband Kevin) Turner, both of Taylorville, and Anita (husband Rick) Artis of Phoenix, AZ; son, Paul M. (wife Ellie) Beck of Clinton, UT; 13 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; brother, Larry (wife Betty) Cook of Belleville; step-siblings: Mary Murray of Terre Haute, IN, Minnie Griffin of Kincaid, Robert (wife Alice) Cook of Cheyenne, WY, and Judy (husband Delmar) Zeitler of Taylorville; and half-siblings: Stanley (wife Brenda) Cook of Sullivan, Rosetta (husband Jack) Neal of Sun City, AZ, and Marcia Shelite of Pana. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Mary Yard; and step-son, Brook T. Beck and first husband William Crowder.
Memorial services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, February 8, in Sutton Memorial Home, with Rev. Howard Wise officiating. Interment will be in Glenhaven Memorial Gardens.
