SAN ANGELO — Mary Pearl Gault, 82, slipped into eternity Sunday evening, March 6, 2005.
She was born March 23, 1922, to the Rev. A.W. and Malinda Yell in Whitney, Texas. She was the third of four children. As a member of a preacher's family, she moved many times during her youth. She graduated from Rochelle High School and that is where she met her future husband, N.T. Gault.

After her high school graduation, Mary attended Howard Payne in Brownwood and worked as a bookkeeper in a lumberyard. N.T. was called into service during World War II and after his return to the states, they married July 23, 1945. They completed their education and settled into married and family life in Norton, Texas.

They moved to Miles, Texas, in 1958 and Mary stayed home and raised their three children until the youngest started school. She then began her teaching career, which lasted 28 years. She had a gift for teaching and many young lives were touched in a positive manner by being in her classroom. She lived a very active life that included responsibilities as a daughter, sister, preacher's wife, coach's wife, Sunday School teacher, summer camp sponsor, neighbor and good friend, but the ones she cherished the most were Wife, Mother, "Grandmama," and Great-Grandmother.

Mary was the recipient of the Lifetime Membership PTA award and a 33-year member of Theta Omicron Chapter of Delta Kappa Gamma where she served on many committees. She was a member of Immanuel Baptist Church at the time of her death.

Mary was preceded in death by her husband, her parents and one brother, Dwight Yell.

Survivors include daughter Susan Donaldson of Christoval; son Jimmy Gault and wife Annelle of Graham; and daughter Malinda Elkins and husband Wayne of San Angelo. Grandchildren include Cary Wike and husband Barry, Katy Donaldson and Quentin Taylor, Thomas Donaldson, Mylia Roan and husband Jared, Ashlee Johnson and husband Ben, Coley Elkins and wife Amanda, Jared Elkins and Brandy Lewis. Great-grandchildren include Keyland Golightly, Duriell Taylor, Jake Wike, Hadlee Roan and Paige Elkins. She is also survived by a sister, Esther Yell of Brownwood; and a brother, Garland Yell of Deerfield, Ill.; as well as many nieces, nephews, extended family, and a host of friends. She is also survived by a very special friend that was like a daughter, Gaye Pelzel.

The family would like to thank the wonderful staff at Baptist Memorials High Rise, Division 5, and Rachel and Aurora for taking such loving care of Mother. The nurses on second floor at Community Hospital and Dr. Gonzales were a Godsend during her last days. We also want to thank Dr. Stanley, Dr. Escobar, and Ervilene Kuhlmann for their loving care.

The funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, March 9, at Johnson's Funeral Home with burial at 3:30 p.m. in Placid, Texas. There will be a visitation from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday, March 8, at Johnson's Funeral Home.

Memorials may be made to Total Surrender Evangelistic Association, P.O. Box 1117, Sterling City, TX 76951; Immanuel Baptist Church Building Fund in San Angelo, Texas; or First United Methodist Church, Christoval, TX 76935.
