Cleo Ainsworth, 83, of Greenwood, died of heart failure Saturday, March 7, 1998 at Greenwood Leflore Hospital. Mr. Ainsworth was born in Taylorsville and had lived most of his live in the Carroll and Leflore County area. He was a retired farmer and a member of the Coila Baptist Church in Carroll County. He was a Veteran of World War II having served with the U.S. Army in the European Theatre where he received the Distinguished Unit Badge. He was also a member of the VFW.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Monday, March 9, at Williams & Lord Chapel in Greenwood with the Rev. Billy Blakely officiating assisted by the Rev. C.C. Burns. Burial was in Odd Fellows Cemetery in Greenwood.

Mr. Ainsworth is survived by his wife, Mrs. Matha (Shorty) Burrell Ainsworth of Greenwood; one son, Billy Ainsworth of Sidon; one daughter, Mrs. Audine Everett of Black Hawk; two brothers, A.B. Ainsworth and Cleveland Ainsworth, both of Greenwood; two sisters, Ms. Daisy Ridgeway of Houston, Ms. Mitis Clifton of Sepulveda, California; five grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

Active pallbearers were Pete Cox, Raymond Story, Mike Wiltshire, Sammy Brower, William Clark, and J.E. Alford.
Honorary pallbearers were Dr. Eugene Webb, Dr. Richard Price, and Robert Ainsworth. Williams & Lord Funeral Home of Greenwood was in charge of arrangements.
