Sr. Mary Helen Bauer, O.P.
God gifted us with her life on September 22, 1912 when Cecilia Louise was born into the world and into the lives of her parents Rupert and Helen Bauer and her brothers and sisters: Joseph, Helen, Anton, Rupert, and Catherine. Cecilia grew up in a loving family and was surrounded by warmth and affection. Some of her family is with us today: her nephews Jay and David, Larry and his wife Alice with their daughter Jennifer and two grandnephews Ken and Jeff. We share your loss.

Cecilia received the habit and the name S. Mary Helen of the Holy Cross on June 24, 1931 and then made her first profession on June 29, 1932. In 1934 she started her teaching career at St. Elizabeth's School. She also ministered at St. Mary Magdalene's and San Gabriel before being named principal of St. Ignatius in 1951. Her ministry later took her to our schools at St. Catherine's, St. Boniface, St. Nicholas as founding principal, Our Lady of Mount Carmel, Immaculate Conception Elementary, St. Frances Cabrini, San Jose and Los Angeles, and Santa Teresita.
