Sand Springs - Bennie R. Adams, 76, welder, died Wednesday. Visitation 1-7 p.m. Thursday, Add'Vantage Funeral Service, Tulsa, and service 10 a.m. Friday, Harvest Time Assembly, Tulsa. (Tulsa World)
Bennie Richard Adams of Sand Springs, Oklahoma left his earthly home and went to be with his Lord on Wednesday, September 7, 2011. Bennie was born on September 13, 1934 in Fisher Bottom, Oklahoma to David Franklin Adams and Martha Rebecca (Madewell) Adams. After serving his country in the United States Army, Bennie returned to Oklahoma and on March 18, 1957 he married Barbara Prangle in Tulsa, OK. Together they raised 4 children. He was a welder by trade but he was also a preacher who loved to teach the gospel. For the past 20 years he was a member of Harvest Time Assembly.
Bennie had many interests and among them were his love of the outdoors where he fished, hunted, and gardened. He was quite the coon hunter at one point. He also loved to paint. When Bennie would come home from work he would often be found outside where he would just "piddle". He could fix most anything that wouldn't work. Many youngsters and their parents will remember him as their baseball coach. To say Bennie was a huge O.S.U. fan would be an understatement; he lived and breathed O.S.U. football. His family loved him very much and will certainly miss him – even his bossiness! When Bennie barked everyone jumped!
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, James, Paul, Lewis, and George Adams; sisters, Lena Broom and Inez Zickefoose. *
Visitation will be from 1-7 pm Thursday at Add'Vantage Funeral Service, 9761 E 31st Street, Tulsa, OK. The funeral service will be 10 am Friday at Harvest Time Assembly, 1151 S 81st W Ave., Tulsa, OK. Interment will take place in Oak Hill Cemetery, Mannford, OK. Pastor Jim Burns will officiate.
