On Tuesday November 4, 2014 the moment came to take Kathleen home. Her tide slipped away from the sand in Brigantine beach and her soul had risen like incense at the age of 91. Kathleen (Kay) was born July 11, in the Germantown section of Philadelphia and spent her early years in the Holmesburg neighborhoods before moving to Brigantine. She was active in her daughters' lives, volunteering her time with the Girl Scouts and in the Home and School Association. She had worked as a secretary for over 20 years, with the Atlantic City Council of the Navy League and as well as a real estate agent and secretary at John A. Rogge Real Estate for 20 years. At home she patiently worked with needlepoint, made scrubbies and doll clothes. She was an avid Phillies fan and wouldn't even think about football until the World Series concluded. Kathleen will fondly be remembered just as the Irish Claddagh is remembered, as an Irish lass who exuded friendship, love and loyalty.
Kathleen is the widow of Richard W. Adams. Kathleen is survived by her daughters Mary (Bruce) Brinkman and Kathy (late Robert) Kaighn. She is the proud grandmother of Michael & his wife Billie Jean Kaighn, William & his wife Kathleen Brinkman, Michelle & her husband Robert Howe, Christine and her husband William Concepcion and great grandmother of Robert and Thomas Kaighn, Justin Howe and William and Maile Concepcion. Kathleen is the sister of Nancy Kirk and the late William, Vincent and Thomas Cassidy, Marie O'Donnell, Frances Wright, Theresa Platt, Joseph Cassidy and Claire Teefy. She is also survived and will be sadly missed by her many nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are invited to join her family to remember Kathleen. To celebrate life through faith and to pay tribute to a mother, grandmother, sister and friend on Friday morning between 9:30 and 10:30 am at St. Thomas the Apostle Church 331 8th Street Brigantine. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 am. Fr. Alfred, presiding.
Graveside tribute and the witness of love's reunion will follow at the Atlantic County Veterans Cemetery, Estelle Manor. As an expression of sympathy and in lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the ALS Association, Greater Philadelphia Chapter 321 Norristown Rd., Suite 260, Ambler, PA 19002 www.alsphiladelphia.org Family care provided by Keates-Plum Funeral Home, 3112 Brigantine Ave., Brigantine.
