Ackerman Rites Are Thursday
Services for Chester Ackerman, 70, will be at 2 p.m., today, July 16, in the First Baptist Church with Rev. Jim White officiating. Mr. Ackerman died July 13 in Stroud hospital after a long illness.
Chester Ira (Chet) Ackerman was born January 14, 1900 in Clinton, Mo., the son of Mr. and Mrs. Ira W. Ackerman. He was married to Jean Hoover Nov. 26, 1946 at Independence, Kan.
Mr. Ackerman was a member of the Stroud Police Department 14 years and served in the capacity of Chief of Police for three years. He was also a veteran of World War I.
Survivors include his wife of the home; two daughters, Mrs. Scherry Carroll of Stroud, Mary Beth of the home; three sons, Ira, Buddy and Jamie Ackerman of Stroud; and one granddaughter.
Burial will be in Stroud cemetery with Stroud Curry Funeral Home in charge of arrangements
