I am inclined to believe that in the line of that profession I can be of more service to my Country than in any other position that I may be placed. Therefore I come forward and offer to you my professional Services, either place me as Surgeon [,] Asst. Surgeon, or Physician as you may think proper to do. After several years experience in the practice of Medicine and Surgery, I feel myself fully competent to take charge of an branch included in my profession.
