Onus E. Anderson, 92, Aurora, passed away at 11:35 p.m. Friday, February 2, 1996, in Aurora Community Hospital. He was born November 13, 1903, in Stone County and was a lifelong resident of Stone and Lawrence counties. He was a member of Hurley United Methodist Church, a 55 year member of Crane Masonic Lodge, a member of Abou Ben Adhem Shrine and a member of Joplin Scottish Rite since 1966. He was a teacher in one room rural schools, a banker, a merchant, a farmer and a northern district judge in Stone County. He married Osa Barnett January 16, 1929, in Galena. She survives. He is also survived by a son and his wife, William E. "Gene" and Georgia, Aurora; a grandson, George W. Anderson, Kansas City; three sisters, Vada Ottendorf, Jessie Cook and Nellie Burton and her husband, Kenneth, all of Republic; and a host of other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, John W. and Martha Langley Anderson; and two brothers, Ernest and Dennis. Services were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, February 6, 1996, in Crafton Cantrell Funeral Home with the Revs. Harold Gold and Sandra Nenadal officiating. Burial was in Crane Community Cemetery. Mr. Anderson was a dear, dear man, a loving husband and proud father and grandfather. He will be sorely missed by his family and his many friends.
