Obituary
Michael "Arriba" Andrews, 70, of Plymouth
died Sunday, Dec. 9, at Jordan Hospital
after a long illness. He was a longtime
steward at General Dynamics until he re-
tired in 1978. In 1985, at the Plymouth -
Carver Hall of Fame dinner, he received
the number one basketball fan of Plymouth
award for his continuous support of the
local team.
Mr. Andrews was born Sept. 30, 1920 in
Bridgeport, Conn., son of the late
Anthony and Delphina Andrews. He was ed-
ucated in the Plymouth schools.
Besides his wife, Mary Alamos Andrews,
he leaves four sons, Michael of Scituate,
Allan of Plymouth, Dana of Carver and
Roger of Taunton; two daughters, Micki
Gomes of San Jose, Calif., and Mary Ellen
Andrews of Plymouth; two stepsons, Robert
and Christopher Coppage of Plymouth; two
brothers, John Andrews of Kingston and
Augustine Andrews of New Bedford; two
sisters, Theresa Rose and Angelina Silva,
both of Plymouth; 12 granchildren and
six great-grandchildren.
The Rev. Melford Mesquita of Bethel A.M.E.
Church in Plymouth conducted the funeral
service on Wednesday, Dec. 12 at Cart-
mell Funeral Home. Interment was in Vine
Hills Cemetery.
