Largley attened Military funeral services were held at the G.A.R. post room, East Middle Street Wednesday afternoon at 2 o'clock for John F. Adams, Civil War Veteran, who passed away at his home in Mt. Joy Township Sunday morning. Services at the post room were in charged of Captian James F. Bodley Superintendent of the National Cemetery. The Rev. L.B. Hafer offered prayer.
Services at the grave in the National Cemetery, where burial took place were in charge of Gettysburg Camp, 112 sons of Veterans in command of Post Cammander G. Harry Roth, assisted by the Rev. Mr. Hafer and the Rev. W.D.E. Scott, both members of the Gettysburg Camp.furnished pallbearers and a firing squad. The bearers were E.F. Strausbaugh, Frank Wright, J. Warren Gilbert, E.L. Weikert Jr., William Shields Jr. and Harvey Sterner. The Firing squad was in command o f George Hughes.
Mr. Adams who was 77 years old, was a member of Co. K, 184 th Pennsylvania Volunteer Infantry. He was twice married, his first wife having been Miss Dora Henderson, and his second wife, who survives, being Miss Dolly Lentz, one son and two daughters, Raymond S. Adams, york, and Misses Evelyn R. and Liilian Adams, both at home.

John F. Adams was born in Franklin Township, Adams County, June 2, 1848, the son of Peter & Nancy (Dillon) Adams. He married Dora Amanda Henderson March 31, 1868, in Philipsburg, Centre County, and fathered Franklin (b. 1869), James Albert (b. 10/05/71), Jennie (b. 10/10/73), Charles Edward (b. 11/18/75), Roberta (b. @1878), Harvey Ignatius (b. 09/29/80), Samuel Raymond (b. 07/11/89), and Edith Regina "Jane" (b. 01/10/92). Amanda died in 1906, and he married twenty-year-old Dolly G. Lentz April 6, 1916, in Gettysburg, fathering Evelyn Roberta (b. 11/24/1921) and Lillian. The old fellow stayed active until the bitter end.
