Mary "Thelma" Brammer, 84, who lived all of her life in Macon and St. Joseph, died Tuesday, April 11, 1989 in Oak Glen Nursing Home in Coal Valley, Ill. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, April 14, at the Hutton & McElwain Funeral Home in Macon. Visitation will be one hour preceding the funeral, from 12-1 p.m., on Friday. Burial will be in the Bethlehem Cemetery at Macon. The family suggests memorials to the Orion United Methodist Church which may be left at the funeral home. She was born June 17, 1904 in Macon, the daughter of Elijah and Mary Halley Baker. She first married Luther Cupp in Macon in 1921. She married William Brammer in 1936 in Macon and he preceded her in death on July 29, 1961. Surviving are one daughter, Susie Smith of Orion, Ill.; two sons, John H. Cupp of Heidelberg, Germany and William J. Cupp of Fort Worth, Texas; 18 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and one brother, Glen Baker of Macon. Preceding her in death were her parents and two sons. She was a member of the First Christian Church of Macon. She retired in 1973 after 20 years of cooking in several restaurants.
