Uncle Bob worked as a woodshop teacher at (Wyalusing Valley Jr/Sr High) until he died of cancer. He was fairly short and stocky, & balding, roundish face with a pixie-like smile. I clearly remember his voice, still: medium timbre, so raspy that it almost buzzed. He had quite a sense of humor. We'd see him at Thanksgiving and sometimes Christmas when we'd visit Dad's parents, and he would always be teasing and joking.
He helped Grandpa with the farm in Merrryall for a long time. A couple of years after he died, Grandma and Grandpa had a house built in Wyalusing and moved there, because Grandma just couldn't bear to stay on the farm without Uncle Bob around. Dad never said much about it, but I think he was rather devastated when Bob died. I recall that Mom said when Bob first got cancer (it finally got him after it came out of remission), it really got to Dad.
