Our angel, Laura Lee Brink Allen, 45, of Monroeton, Pa., went to be with her Savior early Friday morning, Oct. 15, 2010 from her home surrounded by her loving family after a long and courageous battle with cancer.
Laura was born in Towanda, Pa. on Aug. 6, 1965, the daughter of Glenn and JoAnn Brotzman Brink. She graduated from Wyalusing High School in the Class of 1983. Laura was formerly employed by the Pink Apple Restaurant in Tunkhannock and the B&D Diner in Wysox. She also drove a bus for the Towanda School District and C&C Transport for 18 years. She was the owner and operator of D&L Disposal, Inc. of Monroeton until her illness.
On June 14, 1986, she married Dennis (Smokey) Allen of Monroeton. Laura was a very loving and caring person who always had a smile for everyone and was a great inspiration to many. She was very close to her family and friends and loved them all very much. Laura enjoyed camping, NASCAR racing, four-wheeling, scrapbooking, stamping up, gardening, hosting card parties and spending time with her family and many friends. Laura always said she was so blessed to have had so many loving and caring friends during her life. She was a member of the Tops No. 836 group, Monroeton Rod & Gun Club and the Powell United Methodist Church.
Surviving are her husband, Dennis "Smokey" Allen; beloved son, Derrick Allen of Monroeton; step-children, Chris and Ann Allen of Saco and Nicole Allen of Philadelphia, step-grandchildren, Seth, Madisyn and Abygale Allen; her parents, Glenn and JoAnn Brink of Wyalusing; mother-in-law, Emma Allen of Monroeton; sister-in-law, Paula Bahr (Frank Heath) of Monroeton; nephew, Anthony Bahr; niece, Natasha Allen; a great- niece, Dillon Bahr; a very special great-niece whom she so dearly loved, Presley Fee; and numerous uncles, aunts, and cousins.
Laura was predeceased by her grandparents, Leland and Ethel Brink and Bryce and Betty Brotzman.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, Oct. 18, 2010 at the Maryott-Bowen Funeral Home, 217 York Ave., Towanda, Pa., with Pastor Sherry Good officiating. Interment will follow in the Camptown Cemetery, Camptown, Pa.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 9 p.m. on Sunday and from 10 to 11 a.m. on Monday at the funeral home. The family suggests that memorial contributions may be directed to Memorial Hospice, 1 Hospital Drive, Towanda, PA 18848 or to the Bradford County Humane Society, PO Box 179, Ulster, PA 18850 in Laura's memory.
