Nicholas T. Adrahtas, 57, of Monroe, passed away peacefully on Saturday May 9, 2009 at Mercy Memorial Hospital, Monroe after a valiant, courageous and hard fought battle against cancer. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Rupp Funeral Home, where a Trisigion service will be held at 5 p.m. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home followed by burial at Roselawn Memorial Park Cemetery, LaSalle. The Rev. Aristotle Damaskos, pastor of Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Cathedral, Toledo, will officiate. Nicholas was born in Nafpaktos, Greece to Thomas and Aglaia (Danias) Adrahtas, who preceded him in death. At the age of 3, his family immigrated to America. Nick was extremely proud of his Greek heritage. He married Cynthia Haig October 29, 1977 in Toledo. Nick graduated from Monroe High School in 1969. He received his undergraduate degree from Oakland University in 1973. He continued his education and received his Doctor of Jurisprudence from the University of Toledo Law School in 1976. After graduation, he served as a law clerk at the Michigan Court of Appeals. He then practiced law for 7 years in Phoenix, Arizona. Upon his return to Ohio in 1987, he began a career in real estate development. He, along with several other partners, developed Carrington Farms and subsequently Carrington Golf Club. Nick loved to garden and cook. His hobbies included playing golf and collecting antiques. He was also an avid Michigan football fan and followed recruiting online. Nick is survived by his wife Cindy, children Thomas Adrahtas of Columbia, South Carolina, Carrie Adrahtas of Monroe and three special young men Tyler, Ryan and Bill; one sister, Helen (Michael) McCartan of St. Claire and many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by a brother, Kostas "Gus" Adrahtas. Online condolences may be sent through www.ruppfuneralhomeinc.com.
