Harriett Elizabeth Fitzpatrick Baker was the second of three children born to Cecilia (Lambrecht) and George Fitzpatrick of Essex County, New Jersey. Her father George was a fireman on the railroad.
Harriett attended and graduated from an all girls' Catholic school in New Jersey. She met her husband Cortlandt 'Cort' Baker when she was working as a secretary in a division of Crucible Steel Company in New York.
From this marriage three children were born, two girls (Merilynn and Martha) and one son (Cort).
During their married life they traveled and lived in many places of the United States due to Cort's Army involvement in World War II and his position with Crucible Steel. They were last transferred to California in the early 1960s.
They both loved traveling to other parts of the world and enjoyed cruise ship life whenever they had the chance.
Harriett stayed devoted to her family and church all throughout her life, and was a delight to know and have as a friend.
