BOSTON - Edward Robert Baggan Jr. died in Boston on Jan. 5, 2009.
Born in Woonsocket, R.I., on May 10, 1934, he was the son of the late Anna F. (Dorsey) Baggan and Edward R. Baggan. He leaves his cherished wife of 47 years, Jane M. (Spratt) Baggan.
He grew up in Blackstone and attended Hill College and Northeastern University. He served with the Navy Reserves beginning in 1952 and was honorably discharged in 1960. He was former president of Auburn Food Stores and later founded Framingham Industrial Supply in Framingham, where he and his wife raised their family.
He retired in 1989 to West Yarmouth, where he enjoyed life on the Cape. He was fond of cooking and was an avid boater and fisherman. His passion was his family and he took great pleasure spending time in the company of his six grandchildren.
In addition to his wife and grandchildren, he leaves two sons, Edward R. Baggan III and his wife, Kathryn, of Plymouth, and Kevin Baggan and his wife, Virginia, of South Boston; two daughters, Suzanne Cormier and her husband, Michael, of Upton, and Diane Murphy of Hopkinton; a sister, Mary Madigan and her husband, Francis, of Worcester; and 18 nieces and nephews. He was also brother of the late Ann O'Connor of Worcester and Catharine Curran of Orange.
Visiting hours will be held from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 9, at the Morris & O'Connor Funeral Home, 58 Long Pond Drive, South Yarmouth. Funeral services will begin at 9 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 10, from the funeral home, followed by a funeral Mass at 10 a.m. at Saint Pius X Church, Station Avenue, South Yarmouth. Burial will follow at Chandler Gray Cemetery, West Yarmouth.
