WAKEFIELD, Mich. -- Keith L. Anderson, 71, of Montreal, Wis., and formerly of Ironwood, well-known area freelance photographer, died Friday, July 29, 2011, at Gogebic Medical Care Facility in Wakefield.
He was born Aug. 5, 1939, in Ironwood, son of the late Walter and Elaine (Erickson) Anderson, and graduated from Ontonagon High School in 1957. He then attended Eastern Michigan University in Ypsilanti for one year.
Keith served in the U.S. Army for two years and was stationed in Japan.
Following his discharge, he returned to Ironwood and worked at Simpson Electric Co. in Mercer, Wis., until it closed, and was employed as a dispatcher for the Ironwood Public Safety Department until his retirement.
An excellent freelance photographer, he was well-known for his nature and sports photography, as well as his action shots of Gogebic Community College basketball.
A fan of Frank Lloyd Wright architecture, Keith traveled to places around the country to view and photograph his buildings. He was also an avid Green Bay Packer and NASCAR fan.
He is survived by numerous cousins; special friends; and his two dogs, Snuffy and Fuji.
Cremation has taken place.
A memorial service will be held Thursday, Aug. 4, at 11 a.m., at the McKevitt-Patrick Funeral Home, 305 N. Lowell St., in Ironwood, with the Rev. Darryl J. Pepin officiating.
Committal will take place at the funeral home, where a flag presentation ceremony will be accorded by representatives of the Ironwood American Legion Post 5 Honor Guard.
Inurnment will be in Riverside Cemetery, Ironwood.
