Mina Alvera Ade age 80, of Elsie, MI, passed away Thursday, February 15, 2018 at Ovid Healthcare Center, Ovid, MI.

Funeral Services will be held at Smith Family Funeral Homes, Elsie, MI, on Monday, February 19, 2018 at 11:00 A.M., with Pastor Rob Nystrom officiating. Burial will take place at Riverside Cemetery, Elsie, MI. Visitation will be held on Sunday, February 18, 2018 from 2-8 P.M. with family present from 2-4 & 6-8 P.M. at the funeral home, with an Eastern Star Service at 7:00 P.M.

Alvera was born in Brady Township, MI on August 16, 1937 the daughter of Theodore and Alma (Boyd) Bates. She graduated from Elsie High School with the class of 1956. Alvera married Orville Ade in November of 1958; he passed away on August 29, 1987.

Alvera enjoyed crossword puzzles, quilting, and scrapbooking. She made photo albums for everyone in her family. She attended weight watchers in Owosso and spent many years volunteering at the Elsie Baby Pantry. She was a member of the Elsie United Methodist Church, and Eastern Stars. Most of all she enjoyed the time spent with her family, especially her grandchildren.

She is survived by her son Jim and Marie Ade of Elsie, MI, grandchildren: Karla and Mike McCurdy of Owosso, MI; Starann and Jason Wenzlick of Elsie, MI; Sandy (Chris Kioski) Litomisky of Elsie, MI; great grandchildren: Vidalia Wenzlick, Clay Wenzlick, Nicholas McCurdy, Chloe Kioski, and Joseph Kioski. She is also survived by brother Maynard Bates of Fenmore, MI, sisters: Charlotte Vanhorn of New Lothrop, MI, Sharon and Gary Serviss of Roscommon, MI and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Orville, grandson James Jr., sister Doris Wardwell, and sister in law Norma Jean Bates.
