Mrs. Lee K Adcock has died at a Nashville hospital at the age of 68. She had entered the hospital for an operation only a few days before, optimistic of an early recovery and return to her home in West Palm Beach, Florida. The remains were brought to her old home, Cookeville, with services at the Church of Christ on Saturday at 2:30 p.m. with Elder O H Tallman officiating with burial at Cookeville City Cemetery.
Besides her husband, B G Adcock, she is survived by the following children: M K of West Palm Beach, Fl; Mrs. David C Lee of Nashville; Mrs. W L Weir of Oklahoma City; Mrs. Thurman Whitson and Mrs. R L Maddux of Cookeville; and 5 sisters, Mrs. M B Payne and Mrs. L H Montgomery of Nashville; Misses Nan and Lummie Kendrick of West Palm Beach.
Lee Kendrick Adcock was born in Roane County, and chose teaching as her life's work. She had been a member of the faculty of the Sparta City Schools, and then over 20 years in the Cookeville City schools. She was an active member of the Temperance movement and organized the first Parent-Teacher chapter at Cookeville.
She found time, in connection with her busy life as a teacher, to take an active part in the movement for
temperance, as a member of the W.C.T.U., and organized the first ParentTeacher
chapter in Cookeville,
retaining her interest in it until she moved to Florida some years ago.
