Richard Thomas Buckholtz, 57, Aitkin, died April 10, 2008, at his residence.
He was born May 6, 1950, in Duluth to Richard and Mabel (King) Buckholtz. He graduated from Aitkin High School class of 1968. He then graduated from St. Cloud State University with a bachelor's degree in teaching. On Sept. 15, 2005, he married Julie (Dickover) in Aitkin. He worked at the Isle Municipal Liquor Store and then at Grand Casino. He enjoyed playing poker, bowling, playing the drums in a band, hunting and fishing. He loved spending time with his family.
Funeral services will be held today, Wed., April 16, at 1 p.m. at Sorensen-Root-Thompson Funeral Home in Aitkin with the Rev. Phil Strzelecki officiating. Burial will be in Diamond Lake Cemetery at a later date.
He is survived by his wife, Julie; daughter, Ashlee Buckholtz, Isle; step-children, Dan Thornton Jr. "DJ," Isle; Tina (Bryan) Wright, Tammy Lohman and Jessica Lohman all of Twin Lake, Mich., and Jacob Lohman, Aitkin; grandchildren, Alyssa, Joey, Brandon, Ian, Gavin and Cameron; sister, Kathleen Buckholtz, Soldotna, Alaska; many other relatives and friends.
Arrangements are with Sorensen-Root-Thompson Funeral Home in Aitkin.
