Newell Weldon (Andy) Anderson, 68, of Bay City, died Friday, Sept. 2, at the Bay Medical Center after a long illness. Born in Gladwin, Jan. 31, 1920, he was self-employed in the construction and asphalt business. Mr. Anderson was a 32nd degree Mason, a Shriner and a Mariner. He was a member of the Bay City Moose Lodge, the Elks, F.O.E. and the American Legion. Mr. Anderson and the former Arlyne Chatelle were married in 1953 in Grayling.
Besides his wife, he is survived by 4 sons, John of Kawkawlin, Scott, stationed in Greece with the Army, Mark of Altamonte Springs, Fla. and Newell Jr. of Orlando, Fla.; one brother, Alfred of Ohio; and 8 grandchildren.
Rites were held today, Wednesday, at 1 p.m. from the Sisson-Mathews Funeral Home. The Rev.Joel Hurley officiated and burial was in the Ridge Cemetery. A Masonic memorial service was held Tuesday at 8 p.m. by the Gladwin lodge. Gladwin County Record dated 9-7/1988 Column – 4 Page – 2.
