She was a writer and a member of Bible Baptist Church. Survivors include her daughter, Serena Arnold of Virginia Beach; sons, Gary S. Arnold Jr. of Fuquay Varina, N.C., Joel "Boots" Arnold and wife Diana of Corapeake, N.C.; sister, Shirley McGrath of Tampa Bay, Fla.; and grandchildren, Christopher, Judd, Payton, Aidan, Hannah, and Stephen.
