E. K. Angle, Dos Palos pioneer and local theatre owner, and former Mayor, died Wednesday night in the local hospital 8 hours after he was seriously injured when a large scaffolding collapsed in the theatre building burying him underneath.
Born September 25, 1882, in Louisiana, Mo., Elmer Kincaid Angle was 64 years old at the time of his death. He came to Dos Palos in 1905 and but for a short interim of work in the bay area following the San Francisco earthquake had resided here since that time. He and his brother, Warren, were building contractors throughout the valley for many years.
Leader in the community affairs for a number of years, Angle was elected first mayor of Dos Palos following the incorporation in 1935 and served in that capacity until 1941 when he retired from office. During his residence here, in addition to building, he has been engaged in the lumber business, theatre, and owned and operated farm land.
Survivors, besides his wife, Mrs. Ella Mae Angle of this city, are Shelton and Mrs. Mary Hatcher of Dos Palos, Mrs. Doris Ceccarelli of South Dos Palos, three brothers, Warren Angle, city treasurer, Harry of Denver, Colo., and Carson of Oakland. Grandchildren are Pvt. Elmer Hatcher now stationed in Alaska with the U. S. Army, Fred Ronald Hatcher, Robert Ceccarelli, S.K. Angle, Dorothy and Mrs. Mary Ellen Mathews and one great-grandson. Two sisters, Mrs. Maude Kettleson and Mrs. Grace White, both of Dos Palos, preceded him in death.
