Elwood D. Allen
CULLOM- Elwood D. "Deak" Allen, 74 of Gibson City, Brother of a Cullom man, died at 9:56 a.m. Wednesday, June 7, 1995, at Gibson Community Hospital, Gibson City.
His funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Lamb Funeral Home, Gibson City, with the Rev. Bob Koonce officiating. Burial will be in Drummer Township Cemetary, Gibson City, with full military rites accorded by the Lee Lowery American Legion Post Mo. 568.
Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
He was born April 21, 1921, in Maroa, the son of Merritt and Elizabeth (Goin) Allen. He married Mildred Landry Dec. 16, 1944, in Leesville, La. She survives.
Also surviving are two daughters, Patricia Bishop, Bloomington and Rita Denne, Davers; a sister, Harriett Marcum, Bloomington; four brothers, Kenneth of LeRoy, Orivlle of Cullom, Eugene, Gibson City, and Wayne, Bloomington; and 10 grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by four brothers and one sister.
Mr. Allen lived in Gibson City for 50 years. He worked at Central Soya in Gibson City for 32 years before retiring in 1983.
He was an Army engineer veteran of World War II and a member of Lee Lowery American Legion Post No. 568, Gibson City.
The family suggests memorials may be made to the American Heart Association.
