Frederick W. Baker

Graveside services for Frederick W. Baker, 86, a lifelong resident of Leroy Township, were held Saturday at Williams Cemetery in Leroy Township.

Mr. Baker died Dec. 13, 2006, at LakeEast Hospital in Painesville of lung cancer.

He was born April 15, 1920, in Leroy Township.

Mr. Baker was a member of Millwrights and Pile Drivers Local #1871 in Cleveland.

He was a graduate of Perry High School and was a Lieutenant and B-17 pilot with the U.S. Army Air Force during World War II. As a young boy he helped his dad operate their sawmill on Baker's Falls, Paine Road in Leroy Township. He left the service to return home and take care of his mother, where he grew up and remained, with his only sibling, Linnie, and her family.

Survivors are his sister, Linnie M. Dodd of Leroy Township; nieces, Dianne F. Dodd and Sharon E. (Randy) Rodgers; and nephew, Dennis A. (Carol) Dodd. He also leaves several dear lifelong friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Almar E. and Merta E. Baker; and nephew, Byron F. Dodd.

Arrangements are entrusted to Brunner-Nixon Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 176 N. State St., Painesville.
