Velma Ruth Azevedo
A 63 year Novato resident, age 81, passed away Wednesday, November 10th, 2004 after a brief illness.
She is survived by her husband of 63 years, A.P. (Buck) Azevedo of Novato, daughter Linda Parr (Dan) of Novato, daughter Eileen Morrison (Dan) of Lake County, and son Dan Azevedo (Sharon) of Novato. Her granddaughter Gianna Volpi and grandsons Steve Parr, the late Dennis Parr, Joe Morrison and Tom, Jerry and Jeffrey Azevedo, great-grandchildren Johnnie, Catherine, James, Jacob and Athina and numerous nieces and nephews. Velma was the oldest of seven brothers and sisters: Vernon Katen, Beverly Mazzucchi, Elaine Nelson, Clarence Katen, Frank Katen and Shirley Bell.
Velma enjoyed gardening, gourmet cooking, sewing, canning, wine making, RV-ing, and she was the soul of the family. Buck and Velma lived in Novato for 63 years and ran their own businesses: Novato Frozen Foods for 17 years and Azevedo Trucking for 20 years. They enjoyed their retirement life taking trips in their motor home with friends. Our prayers and blessings are with her.
Family and friends are invited to visit on Monday, November 15th, 2004 from 12 Noon to 8:00 p.m. with a Rosary being said at 7:00 p.m. at Keaton's Redwood Chapel, 1801 Novato Blvd., Novato. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, November 16th, 2004 at 10:30 a.m. at Our Lady of Loretto Catholic Church, 1806 Novato Blvd. Burial will follow at Valley Memorial Park, also in Novato.
Memorial contributions preferred to Hospice of Marin or the American Cancer Society.
