Mrs. Emily Anthony, believed to be the oldest person in the community, passed away at 2:00 o'clock Wednesday morning, December 14, 1938, at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Icie Truitt of Allegheny River Boulevard, Nadine, Penna.
Mrs. Anthony was born in Piney township, Armstrong county, May 22, 1839. Had she lived until her next birthday she would have reached the century mark.
She was united in marriage to Mr. John Anthony.
Mrs. Truitt with whom she made her home is the only surviving child. Her husband and eight children preceded her in death. Sixteen grandchildren, forty-five great grandchildren, and one great, great grandchild, and a host of friends are left to mourn her departure.
Mrs. Anthony spent most of her life in the community of Deanville. Aunt Emily, as she was called, was loved by all. She was known for her kindly disposition, her constant prayer life, her love for God and her kin.
Services were held in the home of her daughter, Friday evening at 8:00 o'clock with the Reverend John Willfinger, pastor of the Gospel Tabernacle, officiating. On Saturday her body was brought to the Deanville Baptist church of which she was a member, and at 2:00 o'clock services were held in charge of the Reverend J. M. McKinley.
Burial was made in the Kellersburg M. E. cemetery.
