CLARENCE S BICKERT
Clarence S Bickert, 89, of Wind Gap, PA passed away Thursday morning, July 17, 2008 at the Golden Living Center in East Stroundsburg, PA.

Born: On January 25, 1919 in Lower Northampton County, PA, Clarence was a son of the late Moncie and Sallie Soft Bickert.

Personal: His wife, the former Leah Kaufman, died in 2005.

Clarence was a veteran of the Army having served in World War II, Germany, and the Philippines. Formerly, he served as Chief of Police of Wind Gap until 1952.

In the later part of his life, he was a truck driver with Gilbert Trucking, retiring in 1981.

He enjoyed traveling throughout the country and sharing stories of his trips.

Memberships: Clarence was a member of the Eagles Aire III, Fraternal Order of Police. He was a lifetime member to the Pennsylvania Chief of Police Association and the American Legion. He was also a member of the Hope United Church of Christ, Wind Gap.

Survivors: Clarence is survived by a son, William and his wife, Karen of Edmonton, Oklahoma, daughters, Catherine Blum of Willard, NC and Betty Strouse and her husband, Ron of Stroudsburg, PA, and five great-grandchildren.

Services: A funeral service will be held Tuesday at 11 am in the Schmidt Funeral Home, PC, 202 West St, Wind Gap, with Pastor Albert Martin officiating. Relatives and friends are invited to call at the funeral home one hour prior to the service. Burial with Military Honors will follow at the Wind Gap Cemetery.
