A Mass of Christian Burial for Arlie John Bayer, age 24, of Muenster, is set for 10 a.m. Wednesday, April 4, 2012, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Muenster.

A Rosary and vigil was held at 7 p.m. Tuesday, April 3, 2012, also at the church.

Burial will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery. Services will be officiated by Rev. Ken Robinson and directed by McCoy Funeral Home of Muenster.

Arlie died early Monday morning, April 2, 2012, resulting from an auto accident near Vernon.

Arlie was born Oct. 27, 1987, in Gainesville. He was one of the four children of Paul and Donna Knabe Bayer. He was raised on a dairy farm north of Muenster and attended Sacred Heart Catholic School. He was an outstanding athlete and was active in football, basketball, track and golf and was a member of the state champion football team his sophomore year. He also enjoyed showing cattle.

Arlie was employed by Quasar Energy Service of Gainesville, serving in a supervisory capacity.

Arlie was known as a "kid at heart." He enjoyed having fun with his family just being with them, riding around with them over the country roads in his jeep. He was very close with his brothers and sister, parents and all relatives. He enjoyed collecting rocks and was somewhat of an inventor and artist. Everything he did seemed to be done with family and friends in mind. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him. He will be especially missed by his best friend and love of his life, Kelly Laux of Lindsay. They were to be married in May.

Survivors include his parents, Paul and Donna Knabe Bayer of Muenster; his sister, Sunni Jo Bayer of Muenster; his brothers, Jeremy and wife Diana Bayer of Lindsay and Jordan and wife Jeane Bayer of Gainesville; his paternal grandparents, Alfred and Anna Marie Bayer of Muenster; and nieces, Bri Anna, Koralee and Kariann Bayer of Muenster.

He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Norbert and Juanita Knabe.

Pallbearers are Josh Walterscheid, Jeff Walterscheid, John Knabe, Daniel Hacker, Jake Hess, Drew Hammer and Adam Dangelmayr.
