Carl "Barney" Close, 97, Epworth Manor, Tyrone, a resident of Allemans since 1988 and formerly of Bellwood, died Thursday at the Manor.
He was born in Janesville, son of the late William and Ellen (Smith) Close. He married Martha M. Hanna Sept. 18, 1941, in Brisbin, and she preceded him in death May 30, 2009.
Surviving are a son, Zane (Pam) of Chandler, Ariz.; a daughter, Zoe (Mick) Tarel of San Diego, Calif.; and two grandchildren: Amber Close and Dane Tarel.
He was preceded in death by five brothers: John, Andy, George, William and Irvin.
Carl was a 1930 graduate of Madera High School and had been a carpenter by trade. He attended the Allemansville United Methodist Church and previously the Olivet Baptist Church, Bellwood.
Friends will be received from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday and 10 to the 11 a.m. funeral service Monday, Oct. 19, 2009, at McQuown Funeral Home, Glasgow, Pastor Dennis McCracken officiating. Interment at Oak Grove Cemetery, Allemans.
