John Bower Aldrich was born to Gov Chester H an Sylvia Stroman Aldrich on 9/24/1896 in David City, NE.
The fourth living child of the couple, his brothers being George Stroman Aldrich, Chester Hardy Aldrich, Jr, and Frederick Schuyler Aldrich. His infant brother, Charles Lee Aldrich, died in infancy.
John attended and graduated school in David City and then attended the University of Nebraska where he enlisted in World War I in January of 1918. He was assigned to the air service where he received the commission of lieutenant. He was honorably discharged in December of 1918. He was a lifelong member of the St Mithiel American Legion Post 103.
John moved to Superior, NE in 1924 to start an automobile business which became very successful.
On April 28, 1931 he married Louise Rhyd. They made their home in Superior.
John was stricken by a sudden illness late on January 22, 1936 and rushed to the hospital where surgery was performed on a ruptured appendix. He died on January 24, 1936 at the age of 39 years and 4 months. His funeral was held at the Methodist Church in Superior and his interment was at Evergreen Cemetery in Superior with Post 103 performing the final graveside ritual.
John Aldrich was an admired and honest businessman and a friend to many.
