David James Drager, 60, passed away on Wednesday, July 25, 2012 after a very brief and unexpected battle with cancer.
He was born on Thursday, July 3, 1952 in Torrance, CA.
David grew up in Torrance and went to school from kindergarten through high school, then took vocational classes at EI Camino College.
He married his childhood sweetheart on Saturday, November 3, 1973. This year would have been their 39th wedding anniversary.
After 3 years they had their daughter, Wendy, then 3 years later they had a son, Christopher.
Dave worked at Sears Roebuck for 10 years, then worked at Hollywood Park race track as a plumber for 20 years before retiring as General Foreman.
He and Jan then moved to Santa Maria, CA., and enjoyed 13 years of retirement together before his passing.
He was proceeded in death by his father, Louis H. Drager, survived by loving mother, Helen Drager of Nipomo, brother, Daniel Drager and his wife, Toni of Tucson, AZ, wife, Jan and son Christopher of Orcutt, CA., daughter, Wendy and son in law, Josh, grandchildren, Gavin, Nathan and Allison Steed of Torrance, CA., mother in law, Grace Eleanor Anderson of Arroyo Grande, CA., Gary, Katie, Megan Anderson of Pacific Grove, CA., Brian Anderson and wife, and daughter o fLas Vegas, NV., Jean Anderson of Westminster, CA.
Dave and his family's love for Nascar, racing and motorsports in general led them into racing them- selves and volunteering at select Indy Car events for years. Dave loved the outdoors, Glamis, riding dirt bikes, golfing and spending time with family and friends. Dave loved his friends as if they were family. You all know who you are. Dave lived everyday as if it were his last and his motto was "Go big or go home!"
