Alphonso P. Acosta,43, died last Wednesday at his home in Hurley. He was a retired smelter operator of Chino Mines. Rosary services were held at the Curtis Mortuary chapel Thursday evening and mass was said in the Catholic Church at 9a.m. Friday by the Rev.Fr. Ramon Estivell. Burial was in the Silver City Cemetery. A lifelong resident of Grant County, Mr. Acosta was a veteran of Word War II and a member of Mineral Post of the American Legion. He is survived by his mother, Mrs. Octaviana P. Arosta of Hurley; three brothers; Rufus of Hurley, Arnold of Arenas Valley, and Edward of Silver City; a daughter Beatrice; and five sisters. Mrs Emily Avilucca Hurley; Mrs. Octava Salaiz, Mrs. Gloria Tarzon, Los. Angeles; Mrs Conn Carillo Silver City and Mrs. Roy Dominguez of Deming.
