Mrs. Alvia L. Argenbright, beloved and respected citizen of Silver City for many years, died at her home in the Ambassador Apartments, Tulsa, Okla., Sunday, Nov. 4. She was 95 and death was due to advanced age. Mrs. Argenbright came to Silver City in 1900. She maintained a photographic studio here for a long time, following in the vocation of her father, both of whom pioneered some of the photographic processes now in use. She was born in Macomb, Ill., and it was there her father, Alfred Thomas, took one of the early portraits of Abraham Lincoln just prior to the Lincoln-Douglas debates that so electrified the country to the issues of that day. Mrs. Argenbright owned several small ranches and at one time had an interest in one or more of the larger cattle companies around Silver City. She was also, at one time, a part owner in the Silver City Enterprise, managing the Bush estate s interest in the publication. Interested in civic affairs, she was associated with and active in various groups of that nature. Funeral services were held in Tulsa on Monday and the body was shipped to Silver City where interment will be made. Late Wednesday it was not known when the body would arrive here and arrangements for burial are pending. However, it is known that the burial will be made in the Silver City Cemetery in the family plot beside the grave of the deceased s husband, brother, William Thomas and wife. Surviving her are an only daughter, Mrs. Elizabeth C. Bush of the home; two grandsons, J.B. Bush of Tulsa and F.A. Bush of Greenwich, Conn.; a niece, Mrs. A.S. Kirkpatrick of Albuquerque; a nephew, Thomas B. Thomas of Loveland, Colo.; and numerous grand-nieces and nephews in New York and elsewhere. There are also three great-grandchildren, Elaine, daughter of F.A. Bush and Michael and John, sons of J.B. Bush.
