Donald "Joe Allen, Route 3, Lawrenceville, IL, died Saturday, July 31, 2004, at his residence. He was 70.

Born on October 23, 1933 in Lawrenceville, IL, he was the son of Ona Allen and Esta Hutchison Allen.

He was a retired steamfitter and pipefitter; was a veteran of the US Army, serving in the Korean War; a member of the Moose Lodge, Elks Lodge, Local 136 Steamfitters and Pipefitters Union and the Lawrence County Bird Hunters Club.

Joe was a loving father and grandfather. He loved to hunt and fish, and was an outdoorsman.

Survivors include one son, Kelly Allen of Dora, MO; one step-daughter, Melissa Carr and husband Jay of Vincennes, IN and five grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one daughter, Kristy Allen and two sisters.

Funeral services were held Wednesday, August 4, 2004, at the Cunningham Funeral Home in Bridgeport, IL, with burial in the Bridgeport City Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to the Samantha Hill Class of 2007 Scholarship Fund through the Funeral Home.
