Barron, Arlie Joe


Arlie Joe Barron, 87, passed away Saturday, July 18, 2009 at the home of his daughter and son-in-law, Peggy Arlene and Doug Keese in Mountain Peak.

He was born Feb. 5, 1922 in Gorman to Joseph Jordan and Gertha (Blunt) Barron.

He married Jimmie Florine Varner on Sept. 15, 1941 in Abilene. He was a long time member of Morton Street Church of Christ in Denison. He was a current member of the College Street Church of Christ.

Arlie Joe was in the Army-Air Force during World War II. He served as a firearms instructor at Lowry Air Force Base and in the Aleutian Islands.

He retired from the Katy Railroad in 1985.

He is survived by his children, Gene Edward Barron and wife Marie of Mansfield, Gale Barron and wife Julie of Colleyville, Peggy Arlene Keese and husband Doug of Mt. Peak, and John Arlan Barron of Sherman; honorary daughter, Sandi Tidwell of Mt. Peak; grandchildren, Monny, Steffany, Brian Keith, Sonny, Brian, Gina, Elisha, Matthew, Nathan, Amanda, Jennifer, Lance, Jason, Justin Baron, Alicia, Adrian, Brittany and Brooke; 21 great-grandchildren; brother-in-law Roy Sterling of Benbrook; numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife Florine of 66 years; first born, Jimmy Joe Barron; his first grand baby, Carroll Joe Barron; parents, Joe and Gertha Barron; sister, Doris Mae Sterling; niece, Gertha Jo Brymer.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, July 22, 2009, in the chapel of Boze-Mitchell-McKibbin Funeral Home in Waxahachie with Bro. Dean Kilmer officiating.

Interment will follow at Mountain Peak Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Monny Barron, Matthew Barron, Nathan Barron, Lance Keese, Jason Keese, and Justin Baron Keese.

Honorary pallbearer will be Austin Keith Glaze.

Family will receive friends from 6 -8 p.m. Tuesday, July 21, 2009 at the Boze-Mitchell-McKibbin Funeral Home in Waxahachie.
